Configuring SQLMAIL

Hi
I wanted to send an email through sql server 2000.Before sending i need to
configure a profilename in Sqlmail from enterprise mananger.
And i took profile name from controlpanel>mail
While entering MAPI profile name and click on test button i get the below
error
xp_test_mapi_profile:failed with mail error 0x8004011
I have below environment on my system
OS : windows xp with updated service pack
OutLook 2000 configured with exchange server
can u help me out from this problem or can u tell step by step process of
configuring

Login with the SQL Server Service Domain Account.
Setup the mail profile.
Logout
Login again and then select the profile you created earlier under the
Support Service > SQL Mail in EM. If it is not in the dropdown, the profile
is not correct.

Configuring SQLAgent for sending email

Hi All,

I need some help in configure our SQL 2K & 2K5 servers to send notification on job failers. Have created operators on SQL 2k but when i try to do a test mail it fails saying mai session is not running. I go to properties of the Sql agent to turn on mail session but it is grayed out. Can someone please direct me to the steps I need to take when setting up sql server with email capability. Do I have to install office (outlook on the sql server box) in order for emailing to work?

On SQL 2000 servers, you will need a MAPI client installed (e.g., Outlook).

However, I recommend checking out the usage of xp_smtp_sendmail -an alternative to installing Outlook and all of its issues.

I want to create a stored procedure to execute validation and send results to clients. When I did testing to send email by:

EXEC master..xp_sendmail
@.recipients='you@.you.com',
@.message = 'Validation Finished',
@.subject = 'foo was fired.'

I got error loke:

Server: Msg 18030, Level 16, State 1, Line 0
xp_sendmail: Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.

How to configure Outlook and SQL Server Email next?

It doesn't require mapi, and doesn't Outlook to be installed or configured on the server. Just install and use.

I am having trouble getting a report emailed for the first time.
The timed subscription has been set. I have updated the ReportServer.config
file to include the ip of the exchange server along with port number although
im not sure where to enter a password. The IT guys are making sure that the
exchange server will accept smtp requests from other servers. My question is
what is the best method to troubleshoot & is there anything gleeming that i
am missing. ThanksI have noted that the sql server agent has a job logged & shows suceeded when
last run but I have recieved any emails. I have also noted a job in the
process info that has a status of sleeping. Event log shows nothing

configuring a production server trying to do this and gave up, I have the
feeling you need to re-install RS using different accounts/settings, which in
my case wasn't an option. I ended up coding a small windows service that
downloaded the report through a crafted URL and emailed it based on a
schedule in a table. It actually took less to code that snippet than to
configure the much glorified data driven subscription feature of RS.
Microsoft shouldn't be in such a hurry to advertise features that won't even
work in plain vanilla, no frills install out of the box.

or NTLM authentication. The best solution for email is to use a local SMTP
server as a relay to your smtp server. Set the pickup directory element in
the RSReportServer.config file to the local SMTP servers pickup directory
and the SendUsing element to 1. Then configure your local SMTP server to
relay the email to your actual SMTP server.
