Conflict with logins/usres when Importing databases

Hi,

We have imported several databases from an old SQL Server 2000 deployment in a SQL Server 2005 instance. After the installations we have check that the import doesn't create the logins associated with the users nad now it seems impossible to create "manually" the login. What should be do? Re-import the database after having created the login?

You should still be able to create the login using CREATE LOGIN and then run the system proc
sp_change_users_login to map the existing users to the newly created login.

Reimporting the database will probably not work as the SIDs of the new logins will not match those of the old logins.

|||Effectively, we have been able to create the login but we are unable to associate it to the user using the the "User Properties". The field "Login" appears empty and disabled, so there is no way to assign a user from this screen.

Reading your answer I understand that I can map the users to the newly created logins using the sp_change_users_login function. It's true? Could you send me a sample of use of this function? How should we execute it? (We are SQL Server newbies coming from Oracle world......)+

I assume you imported only your user-database probably using import wizard or something. Security information (users and logins) is stored in 'master' database in SQL Server world. You have to transfer these information from your old database to new one.

Essentially to map an existing user Bob to a new login of Bob you're looking at running:

sp_change_users_login 'Update_One', 'Bob', 'Bob';

COnfiguring Number of records per page?

Is there a way I can specify how many records per page should be displayed?> This is a very basic functionality that needs to go in the deployment at any cost for us?...any ideas.

This will cause the list/table to group on every 20 rows. On the grouping dialog, select to add a page break on every group and you should get the desired result.

Instead of a list, use a table and add a grouping the same way. The table detail rows should then show 20 records each.

however, it does the same thing. it only displays the first record out of 20|||

Here's a working example. The attached report has a self contained dataset and the same table twice, once using a list control with groupping applied. Hope this helps.

Hi.

I have a report containing a table and a subreport following the table. If there is enough space (if the table has less records at that page), I want the table and the subreport to be on the same page.But if there is not enough space , I want the following subreport to be on the next page.

How can I do this?

Note: The subreport may only be on the last page.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a way I can specify how many records per page should be displayed?> This is a very basic functionality that needs to go in the deployment at any cost for us?...any ideas.

thanksAssuming you display your data in a list or a table, you could add a grouping expression like this: =Ceiling(RowNumber(Nothing)/20)
This will cause the list/table to group on every 20 rows. On the grouping dialog, select to add a page break on every group and you should get the desired result.

I clicked

List --> Properties >Edit Details Group

In the Group On dialog box, I inserted :

Instead of a list, use a table and add a grouping the same way. The table detail rows should then show 20 records each.

|||How about in a Matrix?|||hi there. i encountered the same problem, and i tired doing what you said, applying it to a table.

however, it does the same thing. it only displays the first record out of 20|||

Here's a working example. The attached report has a self contained dataset and the same table twice, once using a list control with groupping applied. Hope this helps.

Hi.

I have a report containing a table and a subreport following the table. If there is enough space (if the table has less records at that page), I want the table and the subreport to be on the same page.But if there is not enough space , I want the following subreport to be on the next page.

How can I do this?

Note: The subreport may only be on the last page.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a way I can specify how many records per page should be displayed?> This is a very basic functionality that needs to go in the deployment at any cost for us?...any ideas.

thanksAssuming you display your data in a list or a table, you could add a grouping expression like this: =Ceiling(RowNumber(Nothing)/20)
This will cause the list/table to group on every 20 rows. On the grouping dialog, select to add a page break on every group and you should get the desired result.

Instead of a list, use a table and add a grouping the same way. The table detail rows should then show 20 records each.

however, it does the same thing. it only displays the first record out of 20|||

Here's a working example. The attached report has a self contained dataset and the same table twice, once using a list control with groupping applied. Hope this helps.

Hi.

I have a report containing a table and a subreport following the table. If there is enough space (if the table has less records at that page), I want the table and the subreport to be on the same page.But if there is not enough space , I want the following subreport to be on the next page.

How can I do this?

Note: The subreport may only be on the last page.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a way I can specify how many records per page should be displayed?> This is a very basic functionality that needs to go in the deployment at any cost for us?...any ideas.

thanksAssuming you display your data in a list or a table, you could add a grouping expression like this: =Ceiling(RowNumber(Nothing)/20)
This will cause the list/table to group on every 20 rows. On the grouping dialog, select to add a page break on every group and you should get the desired result.

List --> Properties >Edit Details Group

In the Group On dialog box, I inserted :

Instead of a list, use a table and add a grouping the same way. The table detail rows should then show 20 records each.

|||How about in a Matrix?|||hi there. i encountered the same problem, and i tired doing what you said, applying it to a table.

however, it does the same thing. it only displays the first record out of 20|||

Here's a working example. The attached report has a self contained dataset and the same table twice, once using a list control with groupping applied. Hope this helps.

Hi.

I have a report containing a table and a subreport following the table. If there is enough space (if the table has less records at that page), I want the table and the subreport to be on the same page.But if there is not enough space , I want the following subreport to be on the next page.

How can I do this?

Note: The subreport may only be on the last page.

Any help would be appreciated.
